Why did Atlas join the Revengers?

Atlas's reason for joining the Revengers was that his numerous requests to join the Initiative were denied. During the Avengers: Standoff! storyline, Atlas was an inmate of Pleasant Hill, a gated community established by S.H.I.E.L.D. Using the Kobik project, S.H.I.E.L.D. transformed Atlas into an unnamed Pleasant Hill mailman.

Why did Atlas leave Hercules?

Atlas was restored to normal two generations later where he had his encounter with Hercules who asked for his help in obtaining the Golden Apples. While Atlas obtained the apples, he planned to leave Hercules to take over only for Hercules to trick Atlas into holding the clouds again.
